Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news briefing on Wednesday in Titusville regarding issues including face mask mandates in schools, as well as vaccine mandates.The governor made it clear that the state of Florida supports parents in their decisions on whether or not to mask their own children, stating that parents know best, not people who are in the government."People have a right to speak out," DeSantis said, in part, during the address. "Parents have every right to do that. You'll be protected in the state of Florida."Regarding the issue of vaccine mandates happening all over the country, DeSantis said the state of Florida will be rolling out additions to protections already put in place, that are meant to protect people from vaccine mandates that could lead to them losing their jobs."How is it right to force somebody to lose their job over this issue?" DeSantis said, in part. "I think it's really inappropriate that anyone could lose their job over this."DeSantis went on to say that the vaccine mandates have caused division across communities."I think this has caused huge fissures in our society," he said. "It should be the individual's choice."He went on to say, "You are really putting people's livelihoods in jeopardy here.
