The Rest Team defeated Team John Jones by a 2-1 score-line to clinch the South Turkeyen Sports Committee sponsored ‘Youman Nabi’ three-a-side small-goal football competition on Tuesday at the Sophia Tarmac.
Colin James and Kurt Abrams were on target in the hard-fought win. For the losers, John Jones found the back of the net. The tournament featured several teams from various villages from Georgetown and the East Coast of Demerara.
Kingston, Alberttown, Lodge, Meadowbrook, Better Hope, D’Urban Street, Sophia, Ogle, Tiger Bay, Vryheid’s Lust, and Plaisance were amongst the participants. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the top two finishers. The organiser of the competition is Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell.
