NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has announced he’s launching a new media company. The Trump Media & Technology Group and its “TRUTH Social” app is planned to create a rival to the Big Tech companies that have shut him out and denied him the megaphone that was paramount to his national rise.
The creation of “TRUTH Social, ” with its own social media platform comes nine months after Trump was expelled from social media following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Twitter’s blog stated; “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence. In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. “
Trump has spoken about launching his own social media site ever since he was barred from other social media sites.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said in the statement.
TRUTH Social app will be launched through a new company formed by a merger of the Trump Media and Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp, listed on the Nasdaq according to the statement by TMTG.
Trump said that the company’s mission is to create “a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the Big Tech companies.”
Also planned is a subscription video on demand service. TMTG says the on demand service it will feature “non-woke” entertainment programming.
