However, expressing his gratitude towards the party which provides him with ample opportunity to serve the people, Majhi has stated to follow the ideology of Congress in serving the people.

Majhi bid adieu to Congress two days after the party’s former Laxmipur MLA Kailash Kulesika joined the ruling BJD on Wednesday.

Congress Jeypore MLA and Majhi’s bête noire Tara Prasad Bahinipati said Majhi’s resignation will not affect the party.
“Majhi and his close aide Kulesika had been involved in anti-party activities. It is good for the party that such rebels have left,” Bahinipati said.
Majhi had represented the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha as a Congress candidate in 2009 but subsequently lost the general elections of 2014 and 2019 to the BJD.
