BHUBANESWAR: The main accused in the Kalahandi school principal Mamita Meher's murder case, Gobinda Sahu, on Friday demonstrated before the police how he kept the former's body in his car, which he had parked in the backyard of his house, for seven hours.
After taking a bath and having lunch on the fateful day, Sahu had buried and burnt Mamita's body in a playground near the school where she used to teach and of which he was the president, with no one at home getting a whiff of it.

Sahu is currently in police remand.
On Friday, the police took him to the playground, via the route he had taken after strangulating Mamita in his as part of the recreation of the crime sequence.
"After strangling Mamita following a heated exchange around 11am on October 8 along the route to Mahaling, Sahu had taken 25 minutes to reach home. He had pushed the body from the rear seat to the floor of the car so that no one could see it from outside. On reaching home, he had parked the car in his backyard. Sahu had then taken his scooter to pay a visit to the playground. He had asked Radheshyam to arrange for some dry wood and a tyre and returned home," a police officer quoting Sahu said.

The police added that he had not betrayed any nervousness when he returned home. "In the evening, he had driven the car with the body to the playground, where a pit had been dug a day before. Sahu told police during the recreation of the crime scene that he had put all her belongings, including her mobile phones in the pit, and set it on fire," the police officer, who was present at scene recreation exercise said.
"The police said Mamita knew about Sahu's extra-marital affairs, but the latter wanted her to not tell anyone about it and pledge the same in a temple. Mamita refused to do so. That was then Sahu decided to eliminate her in the car itself, which was his plan B," the police officer said. Had plan A (going to the temple) materialised, Sahu would not have proceeded to implement plan B. He, however was ready with all logistics to materialise plan B, added the police officer.
Meanwhile, protests to sack state home minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, to whom Sahu is perceived to be very close, continued on Friday with BJP Mahila Morcha workers entering Capital police station here and raising slogans.
