MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A Frontier Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport out of caution on Saturday.

A Frontier spokesperson said Frontier flight 1159, flying from Norfolk to Orlando, "experienced a fume/odor event." Around 102 passengers and crew members exited the plane on evacuation slides onto the airfield.

No injuries were reported. There was no indication that a fire occurred on board. RDU Fire Rescue responded along with mutual aid partners including Wake EMS, Raleigh Fire, Wake County Fire Service and Wake County HAZMAT.

I’m very, very grateful," said a passenger who wished not to be identified. "I’m going to the [Tampa Bay] Bucs and [Chicago] Bears game tomorrow. I was thinking about bringing my daughter. I’m glad she did not have to experience it. It is just great to be alive.”

Frontier representatives said nearly all passengers were safely inside the terminal and arrangements were being made to get them to Orlando. One passenger was taken to WakeMed.
