CITY SECTION TOP 5

1. Birmingham Charter (4-5, 3-0 West Valley): The Patriots are on a four-game winning streak, including last week’s 56-6 victory over Chatsworth. According to Calpreps.com, Birmingham’s strength of schedule is one of only two in the City Section with a rating that is above 0. Banning’s is 3.8. Birmingham’s is the highest at 7.2. Every other top 10 team in the City Section is in the negative.

2. Reseda (6-2, 5-0 Valley Mission): The Regents are hitting a winning stride, and showed it with a 34-0 win over Hawkins in a nonleague game last week. All eyes will be on the winner-takes-all game at Canoga Park for the Valley Mission League title Friday.

Next: at Canoga Park, Friday

3. Canoga Park (5-3, 5-0 Valley Mission): The Hunters have been rolling through league play, outscoring its last four opponents 154-6. Kayden Collins is in the running for City Player of the Year.

Next: vs. Reseda, Friday

4. Chatsworth (6-3, 2-2 West Valley): The Chancellors lost big last week, but were able to score against Birmingham. Now Chatsworth has a great test against Cleveland that will determine league and playoff placement.

Next: vs. Cleveland, Friday

5. Cleveland (4-2, 2-1 West Valley): The Cavs have a chance to clinch the league’s No. 2 spot with a win over Chatsworth. Cleveland’s win over Granada Hills last week was big.
