West Ham fans are optimistic ahead of their trip to Villa Park on Sunday following their win against Manchester City to enter the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The Hammers won after the game went to a penalty shootout after neither team could break the deadlock, with Phil Foden's miss from the spot the only thing able to separate the sides.

The shock victory meant last year's Carabao Cup winners would not retain their title for a fifth consecutive season.

David Moyes' side have also had an impressive start of the league season, only suffering two defeats this season and have proven to be a resilient force, winning nine of 14 games in all competitions.

It is this form that has seen the Hammers squeezing out crucial wins against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Leicester this season, leaving them sitting in fourth in the Premier League and just three points off Manchester City in the table.
