Aston Villa summer signing Leon Bailey could be in line for his first start of the season against West Ham on Sunday.

The winger returned from injury last week, coming on as a half-time substitute in the loss against Arsenal in Villa ’s last outing.

Injury has prevented the 24-year-old from starting in the Premier League since completing a £30 million summer move from Bayer Leverkusen.

He has instead been restricted to playing just 131 minutes of football so far this campaign.

But that has not stopped the Jamaican international making an impact at his new home.

In those minutes, Bailey has been involved in three goals, scoring one and providing a further two assists.

According to WhoScored, that puts him just second behind fellow summer signing Danny Ings in goal involvement for Villa so far this season.

Bailey introduced himself to the Villa faithful with his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win over Everton back in September, making an impact in the game as a second half substitute before being forced off with an injury that kept him out for the next three league matches.

The winger made his comeback from the injury against Arsenal, providing an assist for Jacob Ramsey’s 82nd minute strike in the 3-1 loss.

His performances have led to calls from Villa fans for him to be handed his first start of the campaign in the Premier League clash vs West Ham.

With Dean Smith’s side looking to halt a run of three defeats in a row, Villa could have the perfect man to turn to in order to help arrest the faltering form.
