Tamil Nadu CM visits flood-affected areas in Chengalpet and Kancheepuram districts, distributes pattas to irulas
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Friday inspected flood mitigation efforts in Chengalpet and Kancheepuram districts and distributed relief measures to the people in relief camps.
After inspecting flood mitigation work in Narayanapuram Eri on Radical Ring Road in Chennai, the CM reached a relief shelter put up in Mambakkam Panchayat Union School and inquired about the wellbeing of the people and served them food.

He distributed house pattas to 34 families of irula community, who were shifted to the relief shelter.
“It was a dream come true for us. Land was allocated for our community 15 years ago, but a section of the villagers of Keelkottaiyur prevented us from settling here and encroached upon the parcel of land. Within a day, the issue came to an end,” said D Ravi who was excited to receive the patta from the CM in person.
They also thanked Chengalpet collector A R Rahul Nadh and revenue officials for acting swiftly to remove the encroachment from land and handing it over to them. Each family was allocated one cent of land.
On the way to inspect the work being carried at zero point of the Adyar river, the CM stopped at a roadside shop to have tea. He interacted with two of women employees of the shop, who took selfies with him. He had a chat with a small boy.

Stalin met people in flood-affected areas in the vicinity and inquired about the kind of relief and rehabilitation activities carried out in their locality. He interacted with a group of conservancy workers, who were busy working at Kandigai. He inquired about their wellbeing and asked about their needs.
After inaugurating the medical camp and inspecting the relief shelter in Mudichur, he visited waterlogged areas and inspected the mitigation works to dewater the locality.
Senior DMK leader and MP T R Baalu, minister for health Ma Subramanian, minister for rural industries T M Anbarasan and senior officials accompanied the CM.
