AHMEDABAD: A cyclonic circulation off the Maharashtra coast and a resultant trough extending over Gujarat gave several parts of the state light to moderate rains on Thursday morning.
Bechraji in Mehsana got 17 mm rains till 10 am, followed by 13 mm in Mehsana, 12 mm in Khedbrahma, Unjha, Dehgam and Kadi talukas, 8 mm in Kankrej in Banaskantha, 7 mm each in Vadali in Sabarkantha and Saltasana in Mehsana, and 6 mm each in Chanaska and Sami talukas of Patan among others.
In all, 37 talukas recorded at least 1 mm rainfall.
Peripheries of Ahmedabad city such as Bavla (3 mm) and Mandal (1 mm) received light showers.

The Gujarat IMD officials said that the well-marked low-pressure area is likely to travel west-northwestwards in the next three days. β€œIn the next two days, almost all districts of south Gujarat along with Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Kheda, Mahisagar Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath may experience light to moderate rains, as almost all the districts may experience cloudy weather. The minimum temperature may increase slightly,” said an official.
Experts said that the rains may hamper the crop in some parts of the state. The seasonal change may also pose health risks for the elderly and those with lower immunity, they added.
