Uttar Pradesh: BJYM office bearer killed in celebratory firing in Mirzapur

VARANASI: A Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) office bearer, Ashish Gupta (25), was killed in celebratory firing during a marriage function in Mirzapur district in the wee hours of Monday.
"Gupta had gone to a marriage function at Sarju Udyan in Katra Kotwali police station area on Sunday night," said Ajay Kumar Singh, Mirzapur SP.
"When barat reached the venue, some participants indulged in celebratory firing," said the SP.
Gupta had suffered bullet injuries in stomach and was taken to a divisional hospital.
SP said that in view of sharp deterioration in his health condition, doctors referred him to trauma centre of BHU in Varanasi, where he died.
