2-0 in their Digicel Premier League clash at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

The Delta Tigers got three points to move into the top three spots.

Speaking to SUNsports, Rewa coach Rodrick Singh said they were on a mission to win the game.

“We needed the three points to stay in contention with the other teams in the DPL,” he said.

“It is good to see the boys react to what the coaching staff wanted.”

“We had many chances but somehow we were not able to finish them, which was quite disappointing.”

“But overall, we are happy with the three points and now it is time to work on our next game against Nadroga.”

Navua coach Amit Prakash said his players lost their concentration.

“The boys slept during the game and we did not turn up to play football,” he said.

“Now is the time that we needed some valuable points but we seemed to be relaxing.”

“We have put pressure on ourselves and that is the reason why we gave away a penalty and it really hurts.”

What happened: Navua started strongly with their 4-4-2 formation as they tested the Rewa defence.

It took time for Rewa to settled down and when they did they controlled possession as they kept the Navua defenders on their toes.

Both teams came out strongly as they wanted to take the lead.

In the 66th minute Rewa midfielder Tevita Waranaivalu was fouled and from the penalty Patrick Joseph made no mistake with his attempt.

Leading 1-0, the hosts never looked back and extended their lead in the dying stages from a Samuela Nabenia header.
