Cal HC for progress report on Bankura child trafficking probe
Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the state to file an affidavit on the progress of investigation into the abduction of children from Bankura’s Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in July.
A division bench of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj, while expressing concern over the incident, sought the status report within seven days.
Advocate general S N Mookherjee submitted to the court that CID was probing the case.
Petitioner Ramaprasad Sarkar had filed a PIL following the incident in which police rescued three girls and two boys from the custody of the school principal, who allegedly ran a child trafficking racket.
