The district collector in Beed district recently issued five orders headlined ‘No vaccine, no entry’, asking all government departments, private organisations, companies, traders, hawkers, vendors, educational institutions including private classes and all religious institutions to ensure all their employees have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, failing which they should not be allowed to come to the workplace.

One of the orders also asks authorities to ensure no one from the general public is permitted to travel in public or private vehicles if they have not received even a single dose.

The measure has been taken as the district’s average number of vaccinated residents is much lower than the state’s. The order also applies to all labourers who are coming to Beed from other districts and states.

District Collector Radhabinod Sharma issued the orders titled ‘No Vaccine No Entry’ on November 21 stating that Maharashtra’s average for people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine is 74 per cent but for Beed it is 55 per cent. The order states that this measure is being taken to prevent a third wave of Covid-19. The order has been sent to all heads of government departments.

On Wednesday, police at all entry points to the district were stopping vehicles to check if people had been vaccinated with at least one dose. Those who were not were being vaccinated on the spot by health department and municipal officials with assistance from local police. A special van has been stationed at the entry points for this purpose.

Festive offer

Those business establishments whose employees have not received a single dose will not be allowed to run their business as they can be “super spreaders”.

Owners have been asked to get in touch with the nearest vaccination centre or conduct a special drive for their employees. They have been asked not to allow any unvaccinated employee to come to the workplace.

The order also asks RTOs not to accept any kind of application like learning licence or fitness test if the person has not received even a single dose of vaccine. Further, driving licence should not be issued till the person is fully vaccinated.

The order states that no appointment letters are to be given to government servants and salaries for month of December should not be paid to those government servants and private workers who have not received even a single dose.
