KFC opens new restaurant in Malaga in Perth’s north east providing 34 jobs

Colonel Sanders is spreading his chicken wings in Perth’s north east and southern suburbs.

KFC Malaga opened in Victoria Road on Friday on the edge of the traditionally industrial precinct.

The new restaurant, owned by Collins Foods Limited, has created 34 new job opportunities and adds to KFC stores already in nearby Mirrabooka, Morley and Beechboro.

Twelve of the staff have joined from other KFC stores, including general manager Filmon Mensa.

He started at KFC North Perth 10 years ago and led the Dog Swamp restaurant for four years.

“The arrival of KFC in Malaga is really exciting for us,” he said.

“The new restaurant is a great location for both locals and those passing through town.”

Mr Mensa, who has been recognised within his organisation with people development awards, will be joined by assistant manager Shaye Edwards form Mirrabooka KFC.

“Our culture fosters the growth and development of our people by providing opportunities that help them gain lifelong skills, confidence and friends,” Mr Mensa said.

“We’re looking forward to watching our new team members reach their potential with us.”

KFC is also opening a Murdoch restaurant on the corner of Murdoch Drive and Farrington Road on Tuesday.
