Laurane Sheehan (Veteran Entertainment Publicist, Event Planner) Dies at 61

Laurane “LaLa”Sheehan, a veteran in public relation whose resume included films such as “Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Coraline,” “Beasts of No Nation,”In November, she died suddenly from a heart attack. She was 61.

Sheehan, who was a senior accounts supervisor at MBC for over three decades, began her career as an actress on stage, television, and commercial productions. Sheehan was the first executive director of the Music Video Producers Association in the 1990s. As executive producer of the organization’s first MVPA Awards, she helped bring recognition to the burgeoning music video industry.

Sheehan managed many events at venues like the Cannes Film Festival during her time in public relations.

At MBC, she worked with clients such as LAIKA, Locksmith Animation, The Gotham Group, The Oneida Indian Nation, Vista Group, Movio, Cinedigm, Anheuser-Busch, children’s author Tony DiTerlizzi, and Benenson Productions, among others.

Sheehan’s industry peers and loved ones remember her as a role model and joy to be around. “What a joy it is to work with your best friend,”Begley made the statement in a statement. “… She loved being part of the film industry, delighted in the artistry of our clients and was a shining light and spirit to all she encountered. Rest in peace my friend.”

Sheehan is survived her brother Paul Sheehan, Nancy, and their son Christopher Sheehan; Maureen Glovins, her sister, and their children Kevin and Brian Glovins; Shannon Belli, Stephanie Nover, and Shannon Belli; and Lisa Sheehan, her sister-in law and her sons Vincent Sheehan (and Robert). “Robby”Sheehan, Jr. with his wife Erin. Her parents Roy and Elvyra Sheehan, as well as her brother Robert Sheehan, preceded her death.
