Karnataka: 70-year-old man held for rape of minor in Kalaburagi

KALABURAGI: A 70-year-old man was on Thursday arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl under Revoor police station limits in Kalaburagi district.
The girl and the accused have been sent for medical examination, said police.
On the afernoon of November 29, the old man lured the girl promising her eatables which he told her was in his field. The girl went with him to his field which is one field away from her village.
The accused is said to have raped the child in his field. When the parents returned from work in the evening, they found their daughter crying inconsolably. After much coercion, the child narrated the horrific incident.
The parents filed a complaint the next day.
On Thursday, police arrested the accused from a relative's house in another village where he was hiding.
Police have registered a case under the Pocso Act.
