Ildikó Burda Kruth

Reno - Ildikó Kruth passed away suddenly in Reno, Nevada, on November 21, 2021. She has gone from being in the presence of friends and family to being in the presence of her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are comforted in knowing she is in a much better place.

Ildikó was born June 17, 1955 to Charles and Karina Burda in Ithaca, New York. She attended Cornell University, graduating with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Following graduation, she moved to San Francisco, CA, where she met and married Raymond Kruth in 1979. They moved to Reno in 1985 and have remained here since then.

Ildikó's first passion in life was her faith, followed by her devotion as mother to the three children she and Ray were blessed with, Timothy, David, and Karina. She devoted herself tirelessly to raising her children to be the best humans possible. She home-schooled all three through a good part of their school years (she was a tough teacher!), emphasizing a deep respect for people of all races, backgrounds, and creeds. Ildikó encouraged critical thinking and shared her infectious love of the natural world. But above all, she emphasized love and service for God and all His creatures. After homeschooling, she taught second grade at Legacy Christian School in Sparks, Nevada, for several years, inspiring many more children to reach for their potential.

Ildikó had a passion for working with people, and she delighted in sharing time with those around her. She spent many hours assisting friends in need and was dearly loved by all. Her most recent passion was helping international students at UNR in their transition to America, seeking to give them a home and family away from home. She loved all the students she worked with, and she gained tremendous joy from learning the details of their cultures.

She is survived by her husband Ray and three children and their spouses: Timothy and Caressa Kruth of Portland OR, David and Amanda Kruth of Sparks, NV, and Karina Kruth of Iowa City, IA. She is also survived by her sister Silvia, nieces Heather and Nicole, and three grandchildren, Silas, Owen, and Felix. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Karina Burda.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 10, at 2:00 PM, at South Reno Baptist Church, at 6780 So. McCarran Blvd, Reno, NV. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via video livestream the day of the service via the church's web site at https://southreno.com/livestream, and on Facebook Live at: https://www.facebook.com/SouthRenoBC/.
