SHIVAMOGGA/CHIKKAMAGALURU: A woman assistant conservator forest (ACF) from Chikkamagaluru has lodged a complaint against an activist accusing him of harassing her.
The officer, in her complaint, has said that the accused had put her photos on his WhatsApp status. She had recently denied him informal information he had sought about the department.
Speaking to TOI, the officer said the accused Chitrappa Yaranal, residing in Shivamogga city, was allegedly pestering her to release compensation for the loss in Chikkamagaluru due to elephant attack.
She said that he would call her during late night and verbally abuse her. "He introduced himself as an activist and held a protest in front of the forest office. Two days ago he put my photo on his WhatsApp status, which was noticed by our staff," said the officer.
"Women officers like me are facing a lot of harassment from activists and outsiders like him," she stated in the complaint.
The woman officer said the cops posed her many queries while receiving her complaint instead of taking necessary steps to remove her photos from the status of the accused.
Speaking to TOI, Shivamogga SP BM Laxmi Prasad said a case has been registered and the search is on for the accused who is on the run. "Jayanagar police in Shivamogga city is collecting information about the accused who is still at large. We will check his mobile with the evidence produced by the forest officer," he added.
