    Documents need to open a PPF Account with HDFC Bank
    To open a PPF account with HDFC Bank, you will need the following documents:
    • An Identity proof (Voter ID/PAN Card/ Aadhar Card)
    • A proof of residence
    • Passport size photographs
    • Pay-in-slip (available at the bank branch/post office)
    • Nomination form

    Pre-requisites for opening HDFC Bank PPF account online
    • You must have an HDFC Bank Savings Account and your account must be enabled for NetBanking / MobileBanking banking.
    • Your account should be connected to your 'Aadhaar' number.
    • Your Aadhaar-linked mobile number must be active in order to get an OTP, which is needed to instantaneously e-sign/e-authorize the opening of a PPF account.

    How to open a PPF Account online with HDFC Bank?
    If you have an HDFC account, you can open a PPF account online at any time, in a paperless manner. Here's a step-by-step guide:
    Step 1: Log in to your HDFC Bank NetBanking account.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Public Provident Fund' banner under the Offers Tab.
    Step 3: Confirm the information on the following screen, then enter the amount you want to deposit.
    Step 4: Select whether or not you want to add a nominee and then click Submit.
    Your form will be submitted if your Aadhaar is already linked to your account, and you will receive an email stating that your account will be activated in one working day.
    If your Aadhaar hasn't been linked yet, you will need to do it before continuing. You can transfer funds directly from your Savings Account to your PPF Account once you have opened a PPF account online.

    How to invest in PPF online?
    • If your savings and PPF accounts are both with the same bank, you can make online deposits using a funds transfer or a third-party transfer.
    • To make an online deposit, first log into your NetBanking account and add your PPF account as a beneficiary. You may quickly send funds to your PPF account once you have added it as a beneficiary via NetBanking or MobileBanking.
    • You can automate the procedure by giving your bank standing instructions, which will credit your PPF investments automatically.

    Points to note
    • The minimum deposit to create a post office PPF account is Rs. 500, with a maximum sum of Rs. 70,000 for initial investment.
    • The maximum deposit that can be made in a year is Rs. 1.5 lakh to avail tax benefit.
    • PPF depositors are also eligible for services such as loan advances, account extensions, and other benefits.
    • PPF will continue to earn 7.1 percent for the quarter ending December 31, 2021, according to the latest government circular.
