The number of Covid-19 cases at a central government-run school in Narasimharajapura taluk in Chikkamagaluru district crossed the 100-mark on Monday, with 35 more students and three staffers testing positive on Monday.
On Sunday, 59 students and 10 staffers (teaching and non-teaching) had tested positive for the virus. The cluster was detected when a teacher had tested positive four days ago.
In all, 107, including 94 students, have tested positive so far.
Officials said two ambulances have been kept on standby at the school, while dedicated medical teams are monitoring the health of all students. All the students are asymptomatic and have been isolated on the premises.
KN Ramesh, district deputy commissioner, said all the samples have been sent for genomic sequencing.
There has been a series of cluster outbreaks in educational institutions across the state. About 10 days ago, more than 300 students at SDM College of Medical Sciences in Dharwad tested positive and since then, there have been outbreaks on campuses in schools and colleges in Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Hassan and Mysuru districts.
