Akola district reported its first death since October 19 of an unvaccinated 60-year-old woman on Wednesday. This was the first death in Vidarbha in December. On Nov 30, the region recorded the death of an unvaccinated 75-year-old woman in Yavatmal.

NAGPUR: Akola district reported its first death since October 19 of an unvaccinated 60-year-old woman on Wednesday. This was the first death in Vidarbha in December. On Nov 30, the region recorded the death of an unvaccinated 75-year-old woman in Yavatmal.
The latest toll took the region’s count to 21,381. The lone death increased Akola’s fatalities to 1,140 after 51 days.
No cases were reported from five districts while two of them also didn’t see any recoveries.
Overall, Vidarbha’s day’s cases came down to 18 after a spike of 35 a day before. For the first time, more recoveries than new cases were reported for the first time in eight days of December. Testing continued to increase as again the count surpassed the 9,000 mark for the fourth time in the last 8 days.
In Nagpur, where 19 cases were reported a day ago, only eight new cases surfaced from over 3,000 tests. These included 7 from the city and one from outside the district. None was reported from Nagpur rural.
Washim: The district reported two new cases and one recovered patient. The active case tally is at 4. The district conducted 387 tests in the day. No death took place.
Gondia: A new case was reported after the administration performed 461 tests. Six patients recovered while two cases are active.
Bhandara: The district conducted 399 tests but remained Covid free.
Akola: The district reported a new case and three recovered patients. The active cases are 9 while 538 tests were done.

Gadchiroli: The district didn’t record a new case or a patient recovered. It has 3 active patients while 1,038 tests were done.
Buldhana: The district has four active cases though no new case was recorded or any patient recovered. It performed 265 tests.
Wardha: Two more positive cases from 464 tests increased the caseload of the district to 49,432. No new recovery or death kept the total recoveries and toll unchanged at 48,097 and 1,326 respectively on Wednesday. Active positive patients under treatment in the district are five.
Amravati: Two recoveries took the district’s total to 94,582 even as no new cases were reported on Wednesday. As there were no deaths, the number of active cases under treatment came down to ten.
Yavatmal: No death was reported on Wednesday, keeping the toll unchanged at 1,788. Currently, there are 25 active positive patients under treatment. The administration received 514 reports of which 2 each from the city and Pusad were found positive. Of the 72,958 positive patients, 71,145, including 4 on Wednesday, have recovered. The test positivity rate is 9.48%, death rate 2.45 % and daily positivity rate 0.78%.
Chandrapur: The district remained free of Covid detection as well as casualty on Wednesday. A solitary detection brought the number of active patients down to 14. Caseload remained stable at 88,863, while recoveries inched up to 87,306. The toll is 1,543. A total of 7,72,899 samples have been tested and 6,82,278 of them have been found negative.
