HUBBALLI: PWD assistant engineer aspirants protested at Raichur railway station in the morning as the Hassan-Solapur train was delayed for more than five hours.
Hassan-Solapur-Hassan Express, Basava Express (Mysuru-Bagalkot) and Karnataka Express (Bengaluru-New Delhi) and some other trains were delayed due to doubling work at Hindupur and Devarapalli yards.
As the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examination aspirants were left in a lurch and worrying whether they will not reach the Kalaburagi exam centres on time, they staged a protest by blocking the train.

"Indian Railways is playing with the life of students," they alleged.
Some candidates also urged the Railways on Twitter and other social media platforms to help them to reach the centres before their examination begins.
Sources in the South Western Railway Hubballi said due to technical issues during doubling works in Hindupur, some trains were detained the previous night.
"Efforts were made to improve their schedule and real-time monitoring is being done. The Basava Express reached Kalaburgi at 8.11am and Solapur-Hassan express reached Yesvantpur at 8.15am," sources added.
