Kerala: BJP leader, SDPI state secretary murdered in Alappuzha; Section 144 imposed

In the early hours of Sunday, BJP OBC morcha state secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan was murdered few hours after SDPI state secretary KS Shan succumbed to stab injuries at a private hospital in Ernakulam. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the alleged murders and assured that police will take strict action against the guilty.

KOTTAYAM: Two political murders in a span of few hours have shaken up Alappuzha district in Kerala. In the early hours of Sunday, BJP OBC morcha state secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan was murdered few hours after SDPI state secretary KS Shan succumbed to stab injuries at a private hospital in Ernakulam.
Sreenivasan, a candidate in the assembly elections, was attacked by a gang on Sunday morning.
While Shan was attacked by another gang around 7.30pm on Saturday and was admitted in a hospital with multiple stab injuries.
A group of men, who came in a car, knocked Shan down from his motorbike and attacked him. According to eyewitnesses, Shan was attacked by four persons.

Following the two killings, the district collector has imposed a prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC in Alappuzha district for Sunday and Monday.
Kerala CM condemns alleged murders
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the alleged murders of SDPI state secretary KS Shan and BJP OBC morcha state secretary Ranjith Sreenivasan on Sunday.
"Such heinous and inhumane acts of violence are dangerous to the state. I am sure that all the people would be ready to identify and isolate such killer groups and their hateful attitudes," Vijayan said in a press conference.
He assured that the police will take strict action against those behind the acts.
