Can the Rewa Football side make their second Oceania Football Confederation Champions League next year?

In 2017 the Delta Tigers made their first appearance in the O League with national league champions Ba.

This year they have another chance after they finished second in the Digicel Premier League with 25 points after defeating Nadi 3-1 at the ANZ Stadium last Sunday.

Now, they face 2021 Digicel Premiere League champions Lautoka in June next year with the winner advancing to the OLeague.

Speaking to SUNSports head coach Rodericks Singh said his boys will have to work hard for that spot.

“This is the pinnacle of local football, it’s what every team was gunning for,” he said.

“We had a slow start but finished strong and achieved our goal of finishing second in the DPL table.

“Lautoka is the best football team in the country and we will have to work hard to beat them.

“We want to finish on top so we can get into a good pool.

Singh added that consistent performance is vital for the team moving forward.

“For now we will have to regroup and switch our focus on the qualifying match,” he said.

“We really need to stay consistent, the boys have to lift their performance.

“First things first, we have a one week break before the team returns for training early January.

“In terms of hiring some new players we don’t really think it’s necessary at the moment.

“We will have to wait for the transfer window to open and see if some players want to make the move than we will get some players.

“At the moment we have a lot of young players that we are slowly developing for the future.

In the 2017 O’ League championship Rewa was in pool D with Tefana FC, Marist FC and Erakor Golden Star.

The team had players like Amani Makoe, Setareki Hughes, Iosefo Verevou, Anish Khem and Epeli Valevou.
