A man remains in hospital after colliding with a car in Eston.

The 64-year-old was involved in a crash with the vehicle just after 11am on Monday.

Police and ambulance crews were pictured at the scene close to the junction of Church Lane and Tawney Road.

Cleveland Police confirmed the pedestrian suffered a head injury and was taken to Middlesbrough's James Cook Hospital where he remains while receiving treatment.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We were called to a report of a male pedestrian in collision with a car at 11.10am today.

"It was at Church Lane/Tawney Road junction and ambulance are in attendance."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We received a call at 11.04 this morning to reports of an injured pedestrian involved in a road traffic incident on the Church Lane junction on Tawney Road, Middlesbrough.

"We dispatched one ambulance crew, and took one patient to James Cook University hospital for further treatment."
