Over the past week, Covid jabbing rates in North Wales have soared: 24,000 people received first, second or booster vaccinations last weekend alone.

At the start of December, staff at the regional health board were delivering 30,000 jabs-a-week.

By last week that figure had more than doubled to 66,000 jabs.

Every day more lanes are being opened at community centres, surgeries and sports centres. The aim is to hit 18,000 vaccinations every day, pushing the weekly total well beyond 100,000.

Below is a list of clinics where jabbing slots can be booked. Also outlined are details of drop-in sessions and pop-up clinics where no booking is required.

More bookable slots and clinics are being added each day as resources become available and health staff are reallocated.

To give full focus to the vaccination programme, non-urgent operations, procedures and outpatient appointments have been postponed.

Jabbing clinics will run every day, except for Christmas Day, in the hope that people – and the NHS – are protected from the “tidal wave of Omicron cases coming our way in January”.

Online bookings

Where possible, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board prefers jabbing slots to be booked.

Online bookings can be made via Betsi’s website here. For the full list of clinics, see below.

Some clinics show very limited availability. This may be because slots on any given day have been booked already.

Just as likely, however, is that slots for some days have yet to be organised, reflecting the last-minute rush to expedite the booster programme.

The advice is to keep checking, as more slots are likely to be added on a regular basis.

Dr Nick Lyons, Betsi’s executive medical director, said: “Our online booking system is populated daily, using the latest information we have about staffing levels.

“This is why you may see certain days where you are unable to book a slot at a particular site. Those slots may become available tomorrow or the day after.

“Because we rely on redeployed staff and the goodwill and availability of volunteers, we cannot always guarantee a particular slot on a particular day will be offered.

“So our message is very simple: take the first available vaccination slot you can physically get to.

“If you see an open time slot, appoint it, attend it and receive the jab – don’t delay.”

Where vaccination clinics are being held at surgeries and medical centres, you do not need to be registered with them – but booking is still needed, unless you're attending a drop-in session.

If you already have an appointment booked in December, Betsi asks you to stick with the original booking and not to re-book it online.

If you have an appointment in January, you are asked to rebook this sooner.

Vaccination drop-in sessions (no booking required)

Some drop-in sessions at regular vaccination clinics are being organised on an ad hoc basis, often at short notice.

No appointments for these are needed, with vaccines given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Speed of vaccination may depend on the number of people who have pre-booked slots at the time you arrive.

Where possible, drop-in sessions are being publicised online and in the local media.

A number of “pop up” mobile clinics are also being arranged between now and December 31.

These clinics will target areas of high footfall, such as supermarkets and shopping centres. As vaccine supplies are likely to be used up very quickly, these won’t necessarily be publicised in advance.
