T’PURAM: Even as state police are trying hard to locate all the culprits in Alappuzha double murder, state police chief Anil Kant has come up with more guidelines to ensure that things are kept in control.
As per the fresh guidelines issued on Friday, a district-wise list of all those who were previously indicted in criminal cases – both SDPI and BJP-RSS activists – will be prepared.
Against whom a warrant has been issued will be arrested immediately and it will be examined if those who are out on bail are violating bail conditions.
Police have been asked to gather the details of those who participated in planning a murder or aiding killers by arranging vehicles or weapons, and arrest them. Officers have also been asked to find the source of funding for such criminal activities and take action against the persons who gave funds.
Those who are spreading messages that are intended to create a communal rift in society will face action. Police had already registered 30 cases in four days against those spreading such messages under IPC Section 153 and 120 (o) of Kerala Police Act, 2011.
Not only those who are spreading such messages in various social media groups will have to face action, but the administrators of such social media groups will be taken to task. The cyber division of all districts have been asked to be vigilant and check social media groups.
ADGP (law and order) and IGs of both the zones have been asked to furnish weekly reports on the steps taken on the basis of the new guidelines.
Kerala was put on high alert and district police chiefs were asked to seek additional forces, if need arose, to maintain the law and order. They were also instructed to assess if prohibitory orders are required in a particular area.

The back-to-back murders in Alappuzha that happened a week after the high-level meeting of police officers (rank SP and above) convened by the state police chief to chart new plans and review the functioning of the force in the wake of repeated criticism had further put the force under immense stress.
Police also announced a project titled Operation Kaaval to nab drug smugglers, illegal sand miners, those involved in organized crime and gang attacks.
