TV chef Matt Tebbutt has become a regular on our screens over the years hosting a number of hit shows.

He has hosted Channel 4's Food Unwapped and ITV's Save Money: Good Food alongside GMB's Susanna Reid, but is now more widely known for presenting Saturday Kitchen on BBC every other week.

Here's all you need to know about Matt Tebbutt including his wife of more than 20 years and his all-important links to Wales.

Welsh links

Matt Tebbutt is 48 and was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire - but he actually grew up in south Wales.

Moving to Wales when he was just six months' old, Tebbutt attended Rougemont School, an independent co-educational day school near Newport, whose other alumni include former Welsh rugby player Richard Parks.

He is currently based in Monmouthshire and it seems the chef's love for the country is long-lasting. Speaking to Great British Food Awards in 2016, he said he considered himself an "honorary Welshman" and that he considered his two young children to be Welsh.

"It’s my adopted country and a beautiful place to live," he said at the time. "The produce is brilliant, but people have been bad at spreading the word. The Welsh must be very modest, because when you go elsewhere you’ll know you’re in an area of good food as people will be shouting and raving about it."

That's what we like to hear!

In July this year, Tebbutt thanked medical staff at a Welsh hospital after he twice needed treatment for a cat bite.

"On a personal note from me, can I please thank everyone at Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny who helped me out not once, but twice, in what was the old A&E," he told viewers while on-air.

"I went in with a gammy finger. It is a long story, and not particularly attractive, but they are absolute angels. I couldn't thank them enough. You have been absolutely brilliant. Thank God we all have people like you on our team, so thanks very much."

From academia to TV

Although he is now a recognisable TV chef, Matt Tebbutt wasn't always on the path to a career in cooking.

In fact, he actually took a degree in geography and anthropology from Oxford Brookes University after leaving school. From there, he went on to study at the illustrious Leith's School of Food and Wine, gaining a diploma in food as a result.

Matt was first seen on screens in October 2009 presenting Saturday Kitchen on BBC One and until his permanent placement announcement, he was a regular guest host.

He has recently presented Food Unwrapped on Channel 4 alongside Kate Quilton and Jamie Doherty, Save Money: Good Food on ITV and has also appeared on Market Kitchen, The Great British Menu and Drop Down Menu.

Who is Matt Tebbutt's wife?

Matt Tebbutt's wife Lisa has played a crucial role in his career to date.

Before he took up Saturday Kitchen hosting duties, Tebbutt ran the Foxhunter restaurant in in Nant-y-Derry in Monmouthshire with his wife until it closed its doors in January 2015 after more than 13 years.

At the time he told WalesOnline: "We’ll be sorry to leave The Foxhunter after 13 amazing years, but the next few years are going to be very exciting for us."

The couple recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary and have two children, son Henry and daughter Jessie.

Although he currently doesn't have his own restaurant, you can try Tebbutt's food at the Schpoons & Forx eatery and Level8eight sky bar at the Hilton hotel in Bournemouth.

Spat with Bake-Off star

Sometimes outspoken, Tebbutt was previously involved in something of a spat with former Great British Bake-Off star Ruby Tandoh.

It started after Tandoh branded Tebbutt a "git" on Twitter when he gave a less than enthusiastic response to his co-host Jack Monroe's use of bottled lemon juice in recipes on BBC's Daily Kitchen Live last year.

She wrote: "Why is Matt Tebbutt such a g**. WHAT is the point in co-presenting a cooking show with @BootstrapCook [Jack Monroe] for affordable and accessible recipes if you're gonna spend half the time ragging on bottled lemon juice and frozen spinach. honestly GROW UP."

Tebbutt later responded, saying: "Wow! Are you always this angry? I didn’t know about the vitamins in frozen spinach and the jif lemon juice was also a genuine question!'

The presenter added: "Can I suggest you watch something else rather than allow me to wind you up. Life’s too short, which is more than apparent these days."

That's us quickly hiding our bottled lemon juice in the cupboard then...

On-air swearing gaffe

Earlier this year, Tebbutt found himself in hot water after he accidentally swore into a hot mic during the Saturday Kitchen intro.

A red-faced Tebbutt was overheard castigating his cameraman, commenting: "Bloody hell, Murray, that's miles away!" just before the show began.

He later apologised during the programme, stating: "I think I need to make an apology. At the top – if you heard – I was having a chat to our man on the jib, Murray over there, and I do apologise because I think I swore. Sorry about that!”

No harm done - we've all said something when we thought others weren't listening right (though perhaps not on live TV)?
