UPCC chief, 12 others booked for Amethi stir
Lucknow: Amethi police on Saturday lodged an FIR against Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ajay Kumar Lallu and 12 other party workers for staging a protest in Amethi. The group was demanding the arrest of the accused involved in assault of a minor Dalit girl. A video of the assault had gone viral on social media on Tuesday.
Circle officer Amethi city Aditya Kapoor said that all those spotted in the video thrashing the girl had been arrested but despite that the Congress delegation had staged the demonstration.

“Nobody was seen following Covid-19 protocol in the protest,” he said.
He also added that no permission was sought for the protest even as section 144 has been imposed in the state.
“We had made several requests to the Congress delegation to not stage a protest,” said Kapoor.
As a result, he said, an FIR was lodged under charges of unlawfully or negligently doing an act, likely to spread the infection of a disease and for wrongful restraint.
The FIR names Lallu and district president Pradeep Singhal and other members.
