..or the oyaji is just a nutcase. Let's consider other possibilities apart from victim blaming :)

One is never too old not to learn.

Or, she’s got money.

Yes, because stalking someone is a wonderful, healthy and not at all illegal and creepy way to express your interest in them. Dear gods, what's wrong with these people? And at his age too! I guess no matter how old you are, some people just don't learn. Pathetic. Please toss this nutter in jail and make sure the woman gets whatever the Japanese equivalent of a restraining order is against him.

Fun fact: there's no retirement age for the "Adam & Eves" who've passed their years of procreation. For some only the grave can put it to bed.

I guess certain things don’t discriminate with age.

Throw the old loser in a cell for 6 months months, sort him out. Calling someone 20 times in a day is more than just creepy.

The poor woman must have been terrified of this horrible man.

Probably inspired by the old 101回のプロポーズ

"the old loser" aka "this horrible man"

is just doing what horny men hunting mates have been doing for millennia, but now using a cell-phone (instead of a club or a bunch of flowers). Btw, women down the ages have been known to pursue men, too, while no woman has ever been "stalked" by a man she's attracted to. Thus, when not attracted to any suitor, we can naturally deem him/her a "pest". In the end, it's all about geese and ganders, innit?

People are very lonely here but it is not an excuse to stalk someone.

She not in to you doode.

Or she was just sleeping.

Find someone or something else, jack.

Maybe he thought she was playing hard to get.

Most women prefer persistent men who won't take no for an answer.

They are almost the same age, so I do not see that at all.

While stalking is of course creepy, I am bit in awe that he has so much romantic energy at that age.

At least it wasn’t a school girl!

age appropriate stalking

Get real.

Unsolicited calling 20 times to a woman in a night, who is scared to the point of calling the police is NOT "romantic energy".

It is sick and creepy - there is NOTHING to be admired about this grubs' actions.

LOL. Perfect.

Well, if you just put on your "funny glasses", you'll be able to see a lot better and then Jean's joke will all make sense, like in "sense of humor".

72 and she's still got it!

You can be arrested for that??? I’m pretty sure I’ve done that in the past with an ex girlfriend who dumped me. Got depressed and drunk and called her like a 100 times.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Now this creep/cretin can just kiss his romantic fantasies involving her goodbye. He jumped the gun, went way overboard to the point that he's an obssessive pest, a leach. And she doesn't want anything to do with this 'kling-on' boy. He blew it.

According to Japan’s Anti-Stalking Act, as revised in May/June 2021, persons ‘repeatedly sending messages to victims by telephone, fax, emails and social media… can be warned by police, and local public safety commissions can issue them with prohibition orders. If they persist after those measures, they can be arrested.’

If this bloke was ‘arrested …on suspicion of violating the anti-stalking law after he called a 72-year-old woman 20 times’, as the article states, he must have a track record and prior history of this sort of behaviour, and must have been warned in the past?

I’m sure there’s more to the story than the article reports. (Whether or not we believe that it ought to, current legislation does not support arrest as first action for 20 unsolicited phone calls alone.)
