Two transport department officials suspended in illegal registration scam

Vijayawada: Two employees of the AP Transport department were suspended and the transport and police departments are conducting a detailed investigation in the case of illegal registration of oil tankers. Stern action will follow, state transport commissioner PSR Anjaneyulu said here on Thursday.

The illegal registrations were done at the transport unit office in Sullurpet and the RTO office at Gudur. MVI Gopi Naik was put under suspension from service with effect from December 21 last. DTC West Godavari was asked to inquire into the scam and submit a preliminary report.

Anjaneyulu stated that based on the preliminary report, C. Mallikarjuna Reddy, RTO of Gudur, and N. Vittal, senior assistant working in the office of DTC Krishna were also put under suspension with effect from January 6. A detailed inquiry would be done.

The DTC Nellore was directed to file a FIR before the Nellore Police, giving details of the preliminary findings against the individuals and office staff concerned vis-à-vis illegal transactions.
