Gadkari inaugurates projects worth crores in Basti
Gorakhpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari, on Thursday, inaugurated and laid the foundation of 139 km-long three National highway (NH) projects worth Rs 1,624 crore at Makhouradham in Basti .
The Union minister laid the foundation of Ramjanki road, Ram Van Gaman road and 84 Kosi Parikrama road on the occasion. He also announced that the road from Ayodhaya to Chitrakoot will be extended to Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra till Rameshwaram to ease the journey to Ram Setu made by Sri Ram.
“BJP does what it says.
With Rs 3.5 lakh crore projects of roads and bridges a huge infrastructural change took place in the state. If double engine government comes again in UP, projects of roads and bridges worth Rs 5 lakh crore will come up here,” said Gadkari while addressing the event from Maharaja Dashrath Inter College.
“The change was possible because of the people who selected us and I assure you if we form government again, huge infrastructural development will take place in UP which will bring prosperity and development,” he added.
Accepting the request of MP Harish Dwivedi, Gadkari announced the construction of road from Vikramjot to Hasenabad Pakolia and Bankati Deisad road as a national highway and said, “The roads will be built under Bharatmala scheme within two years.”
“The Kosi Parikrama road will have 5meter footpaths for pedestrians on both sides of the road with grass and tiles and a rest place at every 10-15 km. It will be linked with 23 religious places, besides, petrol pumps and other facilities will make travelling comfortable for devotees,” he said.

“A 90 km road will be built from Bast Mehdawal to Campierganj, 125 km road from Gorakhpur to Nichlaul and a 146 km road from Lucknow, Bahraich, Nanpara, Rupidiha and from Balrampur to Barhni road will be built which will promote trade,” said Gadkari.
Describing Green hydrogen and how Nagpur Municipal Corporation is earning from toilet water, Gadkari said that wealth could be made from waste and in the coming days vehicles will run on ethanol produced by farmers.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said Basti has a value in UP (Basti Uttar Pradesh ki hasti hai) and the Central government’s treasury is open for the development of the place.
