E-registration mandatory for organising weddings, other events in Tirunelveli
TIRUNELVELI: As part of the measures to curtail the spread of the third wave of Covid-19, the Tirunelveli district administration has made it mandatory for people organising weddings and other functions to register online on https://covidcaretirunelveli.in/.
“It is not to get permission. But an event can be organised only registration,” district collector V Vishnu told reporters here on Saturday.

Events like weddings, engagements, naming ceremony, other auspicious occasions and deaths and related events that could attract people should be registered on the portal along with the name, contact details, dates of the event and locations where the event is to be held. These events have to be registered if they are organised at halls, public places, temples or auditoriums.
“The places will be monitored for compliance by an inter-disciplinary team of officials from the local bodies, revenue and police departments. If there are violations such as the number of persons exceeding the permitted limit of 100 for weddings and 50 for deaths and final rites or violation of other norms, the events will be stopped immediately. It will be followed by legal action against the organisers of the events,” Vishnu said.
Work to establish a triaging point to segregate those testing positive has also been initiated in the district. After inspecting preparatory work for the triaging point at Kanthimathi Ambal Girls Higher Secondary School in Palayamkottai, the collector said the centre would start functioning from Sunday. The district administration is decentralising the number of triaging points at the taluk level.
This is because more Covid-19 cases were expected when compared to the second wave. Additional triaging points will be dedicated at the Kudankulam and Valliyoor government hospitals, followed by two more in the Cheranmahadevi and Ambasamudram government hospitals.
Those with mild symptoms will be subjected to home quarantine. Patients with serious a serious health condition will be admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College and Hospital.
