Kanpur: The district election office will depute as many as 14,808 workers at 3702 booths in ten constituencies of the city in the elections.
Letters are being sent to election workers for their training. Around 1488 workers will be kept as a reserve force to replace Covid infected workers or if any worker remains absent, a source said. Four presiding officers--to be known as presiding officer first, second and third--will manage each booth.
They will be imparted training for operating EVM, sealing it and conducting mock polls, the source further said. The four workers, to be deputed at each booth, will be trained in two phases by the master trainer. Their duties will be fixed by the in-charge officer, human resources. The previous experience showed that some workers did not take their training seriously. During mock polls they could not connect EVM control units and control the ballot unit properly which led to chaos at booths resulting in late polling, said an election officer .
