KHAGARIA: Resentment prevails among the people due to inordinate delay in the completion of an RCC bridge across the Kachna river near Anandpur Maran village under the Alouli block in Khagaria district.
The project was taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana by the rural works department on January 4, 2019 with an estimated outlay of Rs 7.42 crore to provide road connectivity between Anandpur Maran and Paras Mushari.
The construction with a provision of approach road was to be completed by January 3, 2020. Junior engineer (JE) Dinesh Kumar, however, said the project would be completed by the end of March this year. The bridge would provide road connectivity to several remote villages like Jheema, Srinagar, Amousi, Sahorwa, Marandi, Bariyali, Sukhasan and Shyam Gharari and reduce the distance between the district headquarters and diara villages.
The last portion of the three pillars besides approach roads are yet to be completed. The approach roads constructed earlier were reportedly washed away during the last floods.
Local Congress MLA Chhatrapati Yadav has urged the officials concerned to ensure early completion of the project in the interest of the people of the region.
