GHAZIABAD: A 45-year-old murder convict out on bail was arrested on Thursday for allegedly killing his "second wife" inside their house in Umesh Park Colony of Modinagar.
Subhash Kumar, the accused, is a well-known criminal in western UP. In 2002, he killed a man in Ghaziabad and was arrested after a couple of days of the crime. In 2010, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Subhash tied the knot with Puja in 2015, some five years after the latter's first husband died.

After their marriage, the couple relocated to Umesh Park. Subhash's first wife is living in Abupura in the Niwari area with his family. Puja had two children from her first marriage.
Police came to know about the murder after some neighbours alerted them. In fact, one of the neighbours had spotted the body lying in a pool of blood inside the locked house after he peeped through the window.
Iraj Raja, SP (rural), said the accused told police that Puja was in a relationship with few people.
"When Subhash came to know about her illicit relationship, he confronted her. Soon, the couple started fighting with each other on the issue almost daily. Around 9am on Wednesday, Subhash came home after the kids had gone to school. Firstly, he ate breakfast and then shot her in the head," he said.

After committing the crime, the accused locked the house from outside, picked up the kids from school and went to Abupura where his first wife lives. Subsequently, he took the children to a forest in Abupura where he abandoned them, Raja said.
A senior police officer said that the accused wanted to kill the children and "that's why he took them to the forest".
"But when police reached his house in Abupra village, his first wife informed him about the cops and then he fled after leaving the children alone in the forest."
