Haryana: Villagers block Ambala-Saharanpur railway track demanding stoppage of passenger trains at Saraswati Nagar station

Some residents of Saraswati Nagar (Mustafabad) village blocked Ambala-Saharanpur railway track near Uncha Chandana village in Yamunanagar district for about three hours on Friday, demanding stoppage of passenger trains at Saraswati Nagar station.

YAMUNANAGAR: Some residents of Saraswati Nagar (Mustafabad) village blocked Ambala-Saharanpur railway track near Uncha Chandana village in Yamunanagar district for about three hours on Friday, demanding stoppage of passenger trains at Saraswati Nagar station.
The villagers supported by leaders of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) (Charuni) gathered to hold a mahapanchayat at the railway station.

The protestors asked the railway employees at the station to call the senior officials, who told them that the officials have left from Ambala.
The protestors waited till 12pm and when no senior railway official reached the protest spot, the villagers decided to block the railway track to push for their demand kept it blocked till about 3pm.
Due to blockade, the Ambala division cancelled the Ambala-Saharanpur passenger train (04532) and many other express and goods trains were also delayed.
Later, Northern Railway's Ambala division's additional divisional railway manager (ADRM) Karan Singh reached the protest site and pacified the protestors.
Singh assured the protestors that their division has sent the proposal of clearing the passenger trains stoppage at Saraswati Nagar station to the railway board and the same would be cleared before January 21.
After the assurance from ADRM-level railway officers, the villagers lifted the blockade.
