RAJKOT: In a clash between two groups of a community in Porbandar town, police said on Saturday that two people died when an ex-army man opened fire from his licenced revolver.
Two others were injured in the clash that took place late on Friday night.
Two groups belonging to the same Mer community harbouring old grudge against each other over municipality elections held in February last year, attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons including swords and baseball bats, said the police.

An offence has been registered against 11 persons, including local BJP councillor Bhima Odedara and his son Nilesh, a police official said.
According to the police, the clash on Friday night is an outburst of their internal strife for dominance over the area. Both the group members had also contested the last municipality election as rivals. It all started with a quarrel over the entry on each other's areas which led to challenging each other for duel.
Around 18-20 people of both the groups rushed to one area called Vir Bhanuni Khambhi and collided with each other's car intentionally. After vehicles of some members of the two groups were hit, members of the rival groups started hurling abuses and firing in the air. They charged at each other with sticks, baseball pipes, swords and other weapons, when Arbham Odedara, a former army man and the main accused in the incident, suddenly opened fire from his licenced revolver.

Bullets hit two people - Raj Keshwala (26) and Kalpesh Bhuitya (37) - who died from shots fired from a close range, while two others received serious injuries. Cops detained Arbham Odedara, Bhana Odedara and one minor and are being interrogated. The eight accused including Bhima Odedara are yet to be arrested.
An FIR has been registered under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons) and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC against 11 persons, an official of Kamla Baug police station said, adding that several teams have been formed to nab the accused.
