Thirty-two police personnel of Kolar and KGF, who was on duty at the Congress' Mekedatu padayatra have tested Covid-19 positive, the Kolar police confirmed on Sunday. As per police information, Covid-19 infection has been confirmed in a total of 32 policemen who had been deployed for the Congress march for the Mekedatu project. (ANI)

Karnataka man remanded in judicial custody for raping mother
A 36-year-old labourer from a village in Dakshina Kannada was arrested on Friday and subesquently remanded in judicial custody on the charges of raping his mother. Police said that the incident took place when only the survivor and her son were at home. An alcoholic, the labourer is accused of committing the crime at 3 am and 7 am on Thursday.

Karnataka on Saturday recorded 32,793 cases, with Bengaluru accounting for 22,284. With nearly 2.2 lakh tests in the last 24 hours, the state’ daily positivity rate was15%. As per the BBMP bulletin, the daily positivity in Bengaluru was nearly 20% on Saturday, having conducted1.1 lakh tests in the last 24 hours. After Bengaluru, the highest daily cases were seen in Tumakuru (1,326), followed by Hassan (968), Mysuru (729), Mandya (718), Dharwad (648) and Udupi (607). Karnataka’s daily case count was the highest in eight months, after May19, 2021 when it reported 34,281 cases . Bengaluru’s tally was the highest since May 6, 2021 when the city had seen 23,706 cases.
