Football fans have been ridiculing both Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves after their Manchester United predictions backfire.

Speaking to Jake Humphrey on BT Sport after United drew 1-1 with Young Boys in a dead rubber Champions League fixture the former players started looking ahead at the club's next ten fixtures.

Before Covid postponements these matches included trips to Norwich City, Brentford and Newcastle as well as hosting Burnley, Wolves and West Ham United.

Ferdinand began the predictions by stating: "You look at that and you think 'well there is not many there that you would be frightened of or that you would think they would put you on the backfoot'.

"He (Ralf Rangnick) will be going into these thinking that after Southampton we should be in a really, really good position."

Hargreaves then added: "That is win, win, win, win, win, win, it should be 30 points."

So far it has not really gone to plan.

United still have to play Brentford, Brighton, West Ham United, Burnley and Southampton but they have only managed victories over the Canaries and Burnley.

The Reds have drawn with Newcastle and Aston Villa while losing to Wolves.

Supporters from across the country took to Twitter to point fun at the pundits.
