49 health staff among 2,000 Covid cases in Lucknow

Spurt in Covid-19 cases continued on Sunday with 2,392 more people, including 49 healthcare workers and six pregnant women, testing positive for the novel coronavirus infection in the city in the past 24 hours.This took the tally of patients with active infection status to 16,395.

LUCKNOW: Spurt in Covid-19 cases continued on Sunday with 2,392 more people, including 49 healthcare workers and six pregnant women, testing positive for the novel coronavirus infection in the city in the past 24 hours.
This took the tally of patients with active infection status to 16,395.
Health department data shows that Aliganj and Chinhat are hotspots with nearly 31% of the total active caseload in the city.
On Sunday, Aliganj reported 426 new cases and Chinhat 425.
With this, the active caseload of the two areas reached 2,777 and 2,441 respectively. Alambagh recorded 445 cases on Sunday which took its active caseload to 1,985.
“We are doing extensive testing in the highly affected areas to identify and isolate persons with infection as soon as possible. Most of the patients are asymptomatic, so there is no need to panic,” said chief medical officer Dr Manoj Agrawal.
Among other areas Sarojininagar reported 219 cases on Sunday, NK Road 216, Indiranagar 207, localities in the Old City 194, Kaiserbagh 175, Turiya Ganj 88, Aishbagh 45 and BKT 24. Health officials also informed that among fresh cases 789 were contacts of those patients who tested positive earlier, while 417 got themselves tested after developing influenza-like symptoms and 291 had travel history to other countries and Indian states.
Besides, 112 patients were diagnosed with Covid-19 in routine testing in various hospitals where they had gone for treatment of some other diseases.
Over 22K take vaccine shot: As many as 22,475 people turned up to get vaccinated against Covid-19 on Sunday. The drive was conducted at 136 centres, where 6,712 persons took first and 15,133 received the second dose. Besides, 630 healthcare, frontline workers and elderlies with co-morbidities were given precautionary dose.
