JAIPUR: The state continued to witness a prolonged spell of severe cold wave on Sunday. The average maximum temperature in January, so far, is below 20. 0°C, recorded for the first time since 2010.
On Sunday, dense fog and frost added to the shivering cold conditions, with Karauli have a minimum temperature of 2. 4 °C, the Met report said.
According to the Jaipur Met office, the day’s temperature, which is also known as maximum temperature, is below the average maximum temperature this year, so far.
“Usually in the month of January, the average maximum temperature is above 20. 0°C. This year, this has been below 20. 0°C. Such is the condition that in districts, including Sriganganagar, Bikaner and Churu , the average maximum temperature is around 13. 0 to 15. 0°C,” said an official with the Met office. The last time the average maximum temperature in the state went below 20. 0°C was in 2010.
