BANGOR — Jacob Falko scored 22 points as Binghamton University handed the Maine men’s basketball team its fifth straight loss, 73-65, on Sunday afternoon at Cross Insurance Center.

John McGriff added 18 points and six rebounds for the Bearcats (6-7, 3-1 America East). Tyler Bertram had 10 points.

Sam Ihekwoaba scored 13 points and Peter Filipovity had 12 points and six rebounds for the Black Bears (3-11, 0-3).

(14) VILLANOVA 82, BUTLER 42: Collin Gillespie hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and Justin Moore scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats (13-4, 6-1 Big East) to their sixth straight win, a victory over the Bulldogs (9-7, 2-3) in Philadelphia.

The Wildcats are rolling again since dropping their conference opener and never let Butler get comfortable at the Wells Fargo Center.

(16) OHIO STATE 61, PENN STATE 56: E.J. Liddell scored 19 points and the Buckeyes (11-4, 5-2 Big Ten) defeated the Nittany Lions (8-7, 3-4) in Columbus, Ohio.

Ohio State won despite shooting just 38.6% overall and going the final 5:07 without a basket.

The Nittany Lions trimmed multiple 10-point deficits in the second half and pulled within four with seven seconds to go.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) SOUTH CAROLINA 61, ARKANSAS 52: Aliyah Boston and Destanni Henderson each scored 19 points and the Gamecocks (17-1, 5-1 SEC) beat the Razorbacks (11-6, 1-3) in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Boston also had 13 rebounds for South Carolina. The Gamecocks have won five straight since falling at Missouri on Dec. 30

(2) STANFORD 83, UTAH 73: Cameron Brink scored 24 points and Lexie Hull added 21 to help the Cardinal (13-3, 4-0 Pac-12) rally to beat the Utes (8-4, 0-1) in Salt Lake City.

Stanford trailed by seven at the half before outscoring the Utes 53-36 in the final 20 minutes. The Cardinal had 30 of those points in the third quarter as Hull had 11 in the quarter, but still trailed 63-60.

(3) LOUISVILLE 63, BOSTON COLLEGE 53: Kianna Smith scored 18 points, Hailey Van Lith added 16 and the Cardinals (15-1, 5-0 Atlantic Coast) grinded out a victory over the Eagles (12-5, 3-3) in Boston.

The Cardinals haven’t lost since dropping their season opener to then-No. 22 Arizona in overtime.

Taylor Soule led Boston College with 17 points and Cameron Swartz had 12. The Eagles had their four-game winning streak snapped.

(4) NORTH CAROLINA STATE 84, (16) DUKE 60: Elissa Cunane scored 23 points to help the Wolfpack (16-2, 7-0 Atlantic Coast) beat the Blue Devils (11-4, 2-3) in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Jada Boyd added 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench as N.C. State won its 15th straight game against league opponents dating to last season, which includes a three-game run to a second straight ACC Tournament title. The Wolfpack steadily pulled away early in this one, leading by double figures in the first period and pushing that margin to 23 points before halftime.

(5) TENNESSEE 84, (19) KENTUCKY 58: Rae Burrell and Keyen Green came off the bench and scored 14 points apiece as the Volunteers (17-1, 6-0 SEC) beat the Wildcats (8-5, 1-2) in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Volunteers won despite losing 6-foot-6 junior Tamari Key in the second quarter with an injury to her right ankle. The extent of the injury was not immediately announced.

(6) INDIANA 73, PURDUE 68: Grace Berger scored 24 points, Aleksa Gulbe added 21, and the Hoosiers (14-2, 6-0 Big Ten) overcame an eight-point deficit in the final 3 1/2 minutes of regulation to beat the Boilermakers in overtime (11-6, 2-4) at West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Hoosiers were without Gorham’s Mackenzie Holmes, who was sidelined because of a knee injury for the second consecutive game. Holmes, a 6-foot-3 junior forward, averages a team-high 17.9 points.

(11) MICHIGAN 69, (8) MARYLAND 49: Maddie Nolan scored 21 points – all on 3-pointers – and the Wolverines (15-2, 6-1 Big Ten) routed the Terrapins (12-5, 4-2) in College Park, Maryland.

(12) LSU 82, VANDERBILT 64: Alexis Morris scored 20 points, Khayla Pointer had 10 of her 17 points in a pivotal third quarter and the Tigers (17-2, 5-1 SEC) pulled away from the Commodores (10-8, 1-3) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

(14) BAYLOR 82, KANSAS 79: Sarah Andrews scored 25 points, Ja’Mee Asberry added 20, and they combined for the final seven points in the last 14 seconds to give the Bears (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) a win over the Wildcats (11-3, 2-2) in Lawrence, Kansas.

MIAMI 46, (15) GEORGIA TECH 45: Kelsey Marshall scored 12 points and Miami’s defense clamped down in the fourth quarter as the Hurricanes (9-5, 2-2 Atlantic Coast) beat the Yellow Jackets (13-4, 4-2) in Coral Gables, Florida.

(20) NOTRE DAME 70, (21) NORTH CAROLINA 65: Dara Mabrey hit a season-high six 3-pointers and scored 24 points in her 100th career start, and the Irish (13-3, 4-1 Atlantic Coast) held off the Tar Heels (14-2, 4-2) in South Bend, Indiana.

UCF 67, (24) SOUTH FLORIDA 51: Diamond Battles and Tay Sanders combined to score 37 points and the Knights (12-2, 4-0 American Athletic) knocked off the Bulls (12-5, 2-1) in Orlando, Florida.

MEN’S HOCKEY

COLBY 4, WESLEYAN 1: Goals by Brian Sanzone and John McElaney staked the Mules (7-3, 5-2 NESCAC) to a 2-0 lead in the first period, and Jack Sullivan scored twice to close out a win over the Cardinals (5-5-2, 2-2-2) in Waterville.

Andy Beran made 18 saves for Colby, allowing only a goal by Tiger Bjornlund that cut Colby’s lead to 2-1 in the second period.

TRINITY 2, BOWDOIN 1: Andrew Troy’s goal 2:01 into overtime gave the Bantams (7-5, 5-3 NESCAC) a win over the Polar Bears (3-5-3, 3-3-2) in Brunswick.

Trinity’s Gerard Maretta scored the only goal of the first period. Nate Clark tied it late in the second.

Bowdoin was outshot 51-19. Alex Kozic made 49 saves.
