Vadodara city on Monday registered three new cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 taking the total number of patients with the newly detected variant to 46.

VADODARA: Vadodara city on Monday registered three new cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 taking the total number of patients with the newly detected variant to 46.
While two individuals having a travel history of the United Kingdom tested positive of Omicron, another woman having a travelling history of Dubai was also found infected with the new variant.
According to health officials, a 64-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman of Gotri area, having travel history of United Kingdom, had developed symptoms.
They had undergone an RT-PCR test on January 7, on the day of their arrival.
The duo are fully vaccinated but have got infected and are under home isolation. The officials confirmed that six of their close contacts have tested negative in the RT-PCR test.
Another 64-year-old woman resident of Fatehpura, who had a travel history of Dubai was found positive in the RT-PCR test on her arrival at the airport on January 7. She was in home isolation. Genome sequencing of her samples confirmed Omicron variant. Four of her close contacts who have undergone tests have been found negative of Covid-19.
