Lucknow: 2,716 people including CMO test +ve; case count over 17k

Covid-19 transmission rate continued to remain high on Monday with 2,716 more people, including chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow and two other district health officers, getting positive in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases now stands at 17,658.

LUCKNOW: Covid-19 transmission rate continued to remain high on Monday with 2,716 more people, including chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow and two other district health officers, getting positive in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases now stands at 17,658.
CMO Dr Manoj Agrawal, ACMO Dr RV Singh and ACMO Dr Abhilasha were among 66 healthcare workers who tested positive for the disease during a routine sampling drive.
The three officers have mild symptoms and are recovering in home isolation. Their contacts are also being tested.
Besides, nine pregnant women who visited different hospitals for health check-ups were found to be infected in the routine tests done before medical consultation.
“All the healthcare workers and pregnant women are in home isolation. We are monitoring their health closely," said deputy chief medical officer Dr Milind Vardhan. He also said that contact tracing of all the new patients is underway.
According to the health department sources, over 275 healthcare workers have been found infected tested over the past one week.
The third wave of the pandemic that started on December 22 has infected 20,829 people so far. About 3,171 patients, including 1,420 have also recovered in this period. The disease has claimed only one life so far.
On Monday, area-wise, Aliganj recorded the highest 384 cases followed by Chinhat 344, Alambagh 317, localities in the Old City 272 and Sarojininagar 205 cases. Overall, among those who tested positive in the past 24 hours, 1,403 were contacts of the patients who tested positive earlier, 377 had influenza-like symptoms and got themselves tested, 202 had travel history to other states and countries .
