Super Eagles hopeful Akpom reveals Arsenal beat West Ham to his signature
Published: January 17, 2022Super Eagles hopeful Chuba Akpom has revealed that West Ham United were in the race for his signature before he ended up joining their London rivals Arsenal.
The center forward was on the books of the Gunners for sixteen years, 2002 - 2018, before a permanent switch to Greek Super League side PAOK.
During his time with Arsenal, he enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City, Brighton & Hove and Sint-Truiden.
Akpom made twelve first team appearances for Arsenal comprising four each in the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League.
Speaking to Baller Talk, Akpom said : "My journey has been a long one, went on trials at West Ham United and Arsenal, and ended up signing at Arsenal.
"Been there all my life, gone on several loans, came to PAOK had a lot of success there.
"I came back to England with Middlesbrough then I've come back to PAOK so that's basically my story summed up quickly."

Akpom has tallied 8 goals in 25 appearances for PAOK so far this season, he is on loan there from Championship outfit Boro.
