Telangana: Woman dies, sister lives with decomposed body for 3 days in Peddapalli

In a shocking incident, a computer lab technician was found staying with her 24-year-old sister’s semi-decomposed body in their house at Peddapalli town on Monday. Police found out that Maroju Swetha had died of Covid-19 symptoms two days ago.

HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a computer lab technician was found staying with her 24-year-old sister’s semi-decomposed body in their house at Peddapalli town on Monday. Police found out that Maroju Swetha had died of Covid-19 symptoms two days ago.
On Monday, Swetha’s sister Swathi (26) went to work at around 4 pm and neighbours who noticed foul smell emanating from the house, called her and made her open the door.

“The semi-decomposed body of Swetha was found on the mattress in their rented house. Swathi said her sister had died two days ago due to ill-health,” Peddapalli CI A Pradeep Kumar said.
Police said that about 10 days ago, Swetha had fever and cold. “She consulted a doctor and took medicines.
Fever subsided but afew days ago she suffered severe breathlessness and died at home. Swathi did not inform anyone and continued to stay in the house. We suspect that she has been suffering from mental health issues,” Peddapalli SI Rajesh said.
During their investigation, police were shocked to learn that the sisters have shown a similar behaviour earlier also.
“Four years ago, their paternal grandmother died and they kept the body at home for two days without informing anyone. Prior to that, seven years ago, their maternal grandmother di- ed and that time also, the sisters kept the body for two days at home before others noticedit,” the CIsaid.

He further said: “Even after we shifted the body of her sister, Swathi continued to sit in the foul smelling house. Neighbours said that the sisters kept to themselves. We will recommend Swathi to the Institute of Mental Health in Hyderabad. ”
Swetha was an unemployed MCA graduate while Swathi is working in the computer lab of a local private college. She is an M Tech graduate.
The sister’s lost their mother several years ago and their father left the family long back.
Previously they were staying with grandparents but after their death, the sisters started staying in a rented house. Police registered a case under section174 of CrPC.
