Steven Gerrard has turned the ship around at Aston Villa and is hoping to lead the club into Europe in the coming years.

There is even a belief amongst the Villa squad that European football can return to Villa Park next season with a strong second half to this Premier League season.

Villa currently sit in 13th place and put up a spirited fight to come back from a two-goal deficit against Manchester United last time out, where Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne both made their debuts.

Under new boss Gerrard, Villa have won four, lost four and drawn one of his opening nine league games in charge.

Villa have two games in hand on most other teams in the division and one on Manchester United, who currently occupy the final European position on the Premier League table, and are nine points off Ralf Rangnick's side after the draw on Saturday.
